Kyle Smith Memorial Park

Welcome to Kyle's Park's Home Page!

On May 3, 1998 Three-year-old Kyle Smith died as a result of child abuse. That day, just as any other, Kyle was entrusted to a care giver who has since been tried convicted and sentenced for his murder. About the time the trial was coming to an end, an idea was born to build a park in Kyle’s memory.

To learn more about the life and death of Kyle M.D. Smith please visit the Kyle's Story Page at the link above.

Kyle's Park
In early 1999 ground was broken for a pavilion on about an acre of land. The land is on the corner of Penn and Concord Street in the Village of Castleton, IL. Since 1999 play equipment and improvements have continually been added to this land. An ANGEL theme has been adopted and there have been many activities geared toward CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS.

To view pictures of the park, please visit the Kyle's Park Pictures Page at the link above.

If you are interested in using Kyle's Park for a gathering (at no charge), please visit Kyle's Park Contact Page.

Child Abuse Prevention

We may never totally prevent child abuse, but we strive to create awareness for child abuse prevention. As an advocate who now speaks about child abuse, Kyle's father, Marvin Smith Jr. said, “I want the park designated as a safe zone and a safe place for children to play.”

Please visit the Child Abuse Prevention Page at the link above to learn how you can help.
